Elora Cowl - Free Knitting Pattern
This lightweight yet warm cowl is perfect for brisk Spring mornings and cool Autumn nights. The dainty eyelet pattern is feminine but basic enough to go with almost any ensemble.
Yarn
One hank Alpaca Cloud Fingering or 175 yards fingering weight yarn.
Needles and Notions
Circular size 3, 16 inch needles or size needed to obtain gauge
Tapestry needle
Stitch marker
Sizing
One size fits most, finished cowl has circumference of approximately 19 inches and length of 10.5 inches.
Gauge
26 stitches and 36 rows over 4 inches in Eyelets, after blocking.
*note: gauge is not crucial to this project
Abbreviations
K: Knit
P: Purl
YO: Yarn over
K2tog: Knit 2 stitches together
Sl: Slip 1 stitch purlwise
SSK: Slip 2 stitches knitwise, knit them together
Pattern
Cast on 120 stitches using long-tail cast on.
Join in the round, being careful not to twist stitches.
Place marker for beginning of round.
Begin ribbing.
Ribbing
Round 1-10: *K1, p1* to end of round.
Repeat Eyelets 6 times or until desired length is reached.
Eyelets
Row 1 & 3: *K1, yo, ssk, k5, k2tog, yo* to end of round
Row 2 & 4: *Sl1, k9* to end of round
Row 5 & 6: Knit
Row 7 & 9: *K3, k2tog, yo, k1, yo, ssk, k2* to end of round
Row 8 & 10: *K5, Sl1, k4* to end of round
Row 11 & 12: Knit
Repeat Ribbing section.
Bind off loosely in pattern.
Cut yarn and weave in ends.
